Hi! I’m Katelyn (they/them), a trauma-informed art therapist and counselor who uses a person-centered, decolonized framework in their practice. As a neurodiverse, disabled person myself, I believe that every person deserves therapy that is accessible to them and strives to uplift them. In my practice, I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own narrative and I hold the belief that my job is to collaboratively work with you to uncover the skills, tools and insight to help make meaningful change.
Aside from creating a safe and supportive space, one of the ways I intend to help is through creative expression and art therapy. Unlike coloring books (which are very helpful and soothing), my role as an art therapist is to create creative directives or objectives that I think would be beneficial in your healing journey with a variety of mediums (both digital and physical) that are accessible to you!
My ideal client would be someone navigating anxiety, trauma or grief around neurodiversity and disability and is seeking an ally or even simply someone to listen. They may be looking to manage the tough emotions associated with that and want to build resilience and understanding for themselves. They may want to unpack difficult emotions, thoughts and habits that have grown as a result of their troubles.
Therapy is a huge step and I believe any step is worth celebrating. I would love to creatively aid in your healing journey.
